£30.00
Hand thrown in toasted stoneware clay which fires to a soft sand colour, this texture is inspired by the honeycomb reef* that is revealed by very low tides at our local beach. Once almost dry I’ve carved into the clay, creating a really tactile effect. The outer glaze is a matt turquoise which, once dry, I’ve scraped off the surface leaving only the concave carved marks with glaze. The process of scraping has burnished or polished the clay and once fired it has created almost a metallic effect. Internally and at the rim these are glazed in a soft satin white.
Each mug measures approx 9 cm high and 8 cm wide with a capacity of 250 ml – perfect for your favourite brew at any time of the day
Whilst the high firing temperatures mean that these are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe I wouldn’t recommend using on any hand made pottery.
Glazes are food safe
Postage is free within the UK
*honeycomb reef is made by the honeycomb worm Sabellaria alveolata – a tube dwelling, filter feeding worm that forms colonies of thousands or even millions of individuals
