Turquoise Honeycomb Reef Vase

Wheel thrown using speckled grey clay that fires to a soft slate colour. When this has dried to leather hard I’ve carved a honeycomb reef pattern into it – honeycomb reef is made by a small worm, using grains of sand and shell to build small tubes in which they live. The reef can be meters long and quite high too!

I’ve glazed the inside of this in a thin glossy white that lets the speckle of the clay show through and the outside in a matt turquoise. Suitable for a large bunch of flowers, this measures 15 cm high and 11 cm wide at the rim.

Whilst this will be OK in a dishwasher I wouldn’t recommend for any hand made ceramics
