Hand thrown in black stoneware clay which fires to a coal black colour, this texture is inspired by the honeycomb reef* that is revealed by very low tides at our local beach. Once almost dry I’ve carved into the clay, creating a really tactile effect. I’ve used a satin white glaze which, when dry, I’ve gently wiped off the carved area to add contrast and additional texture Each of the pieces in the Honeycomb Reef Collection are unique, I never carve the same way twice – just as the reef is never built in the same way twice.
Measures approx 16 cm high with a neck that’s suitable for a few stems of your favourite flower
Whilst the high firing temperatures mean that these are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe I wouldn’t recommend using on any hand made pottery.

*honeycomb reef is made by the honeycomb worm Sabellaria alveolata – a tube dwelling, filter feeding worm that forms colonies of thousands or even millions of individuals
