Wheel thrown platter. When leather hard (that oh so nice state between wet and dry) I’ve carved into the surface, forming a pattern inspired by the Honeycomb Reef that is revealed by low tides at my local beach. The platter is glazed in a matt turquoise. Where the glaze breaks over the carved area it shows areas of burnished black, and where it’s thicker it has a brighter satin sheen.
These platters have an deliberately ancient look about them, reminding me of old Mediterranean pots found in Turkey or Greece.

Measures approx 27 cm in diameter and has an organic charm.
I don’t really like ascribing uses to my pieces, that’s up to you, but this would be great for fruit or serving bread.

Whilst the high firing temperature means this is dishwasher safe I wouldn’t recommend for any hand made ceramics. Postage within the UK mainland is free.
